It was announced on the news that Conrad Bain had passed away.  He is best remembered for his role as Mr. Drummond in “Different Strokes”.

Pauline Phillips, best known as “Dear Abby” passed away today at the age 0f 94.  Her twin sister was Ann Landers, who had passed in 2002.

The story of Notre Dame linebacker Manti Te’o’s “girlfriend” has to be the most bizarre story going.  He may (or may not) have known that his girlfriend, who recently died from cancer, never existed.  My imaginary girlfriend is alive and well and is a successful supermodel traveling the world.  That is why (aside that she doesn’t exist) nobody has ever met her.

Today started the preliminary hearing for Aurora gunman James Holmes.  He is charged with a total of 166 charges ranging from weapons possession to murder.  If convicted, he could be serving a bunch of life sentences.

Tonight is the NCAA BCS Championship between the #1 Alabama Crimson Tide and the #2 Notre Dame Fighting Irish.  I think Alabama is the better team, but Notre Dame will win due to bad officiating divine intervention will help Notre dame win the game.

Living in the New York metropolitan area means that the local news always leads with something with the word “Sandy” in it.  Whether it’s the continuing cleanup from Hurricane Sandy or healing from the Sandy Hook Elementary shootings in Newtown, CT,

The Obama Administration has chosen two appointees for the Defense Secretary and for CIA Director.  Not that it matters, but  former Senator Chuck Hagel (a Republican) is being picked for Secretary of Defense and some dude named John Brennan is was chosen to be the new CIA Director.  They both have to go through a Senate confirmation hearing which is painfully boring.
